Ingredients
Scale
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1 large egg
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a donut pan.
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, egg, milk, sour cream, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
Spoon the batter into a piping bag or a large Ziploc bag with the corner snipped off. Pipe the batter into the prepared donut cavities, filling each about two-thirds full.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into a donut comes out clean.
Let the donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For a glaze, whisk together 1 cup powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Dip cooled donuts into the glaze.
Store leftover donuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
