These California Burger Wraps offer a fresh, low-carb twist on a classic burger. Crisp lettuce replaces the bun, filled with juicy beef patties, cheese, and fresh vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 large lettuce leaves (such as butter or romaine)
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese, halved
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/4 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup dill pickles, sliced
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined. Form into 8 thin patties.
  2. Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook patties for 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked through to your desired doneness.
  3. During the last minute of cooking, place a half slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty to melt.
  4. Lay out the lettuce leaves. Place two cooked patties with melted cheese on each lettuce leaf.
  5. Top with cherry tomatoes, red onion, and dill pickles.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard for the burger sauce.
  7. Drizzle the burger sauce over the fillings.
  8. Carefully wrap the lettuce leaves around the fillings to create a burger wrap. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the burger patties.
  • Other topping ideas include avocado, bacon bits, or a fried egg.
  • To make this vegetarian, substitute beef patties with black bean burgers or portobello mushrooms.
  • These wraps are best enjoyed fresh, but leftover patties can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
