These chocolate covered strawberries are a simple and elegant dessert, perfect for any occasion. Fresh strawberries are dipped in melted chocolate and allowed to set, creating a delightful treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh strawberries, washed and thoroughly dried
  • 12 ounces high-quality chocolate chips or chopped chocolate (dark, milk, or white)
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil, optional (for smoother melting)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper.
  2. Wash and thoroughly dry the strawberries. Ensure they are completely dry, as any water will cause the chocolate to seize.
  3. Melt the chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until smooth. Alternatively, use a double boiler. If using, stir in the coconut oil until fully incorporated.
  4. Dip the strawberries: Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip it into the melted chocolate, twirling to coat most of the berry. Leave a small portion of the red showing at the top.
  5. Place on prepared baking sheet: Gently shake off any excess chocolate and place the dipped strawberry on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Repeat with remaining strawberries.
  7. Chill until set: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for at least 15-30 minutes, or until the chocolate has fully hardened.
  8. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

Notes

  • Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
  • Ensure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to prevent the chocolate from seizing.
  • For a decorative touch, drizzle with contrasting melted chocolate after the first layer has set.
  • You can add sprinkles or chopped nuts before the chocolate sets for extra texture and flavor.
  • Store in a single layer in an airtight container in the refrigerator to prevent condensation.
