Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (alcohol-free)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Combine water and sugar in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  2. Remove from heat and whisk in cocoa powder until smooth.
  3. Add vanilla extract and salt, stirring to combine.
  4. Pour the mixture into a shallow dish or container.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until thoroughly chilled.
  6. Once chilled, transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  7. Transfer the churned sorbet to an airtight container and freeze for at least 2 hours to firm up before serving.

Notes

  • For a deeper chocolate flavor, use high-quality unsweetened cocoa powder.
  • Ensure the mixture is very cold before churning for the best results.
  • If you don’t have an ice cream maker, you can freeze the mixture in a shallow pan and stir it every 30-45 minutes until it reaches a sorbet-like consistency.
