This recipe features grilled shrimp marinated in a zesty blend of chile and lemon, offering a flavorful and quick meal option.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Lemon wedges, for serving
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, lemon juice, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the bowl and toss to coat evenly with the marinade. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes, or up to 1 hour.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to prevent burning.
  4. Thread the marinated shrimp onto skewers.
  5. Grill the shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they turn pink and opaque. Be careful not to overcook them, as they can become tough.
  6. Remove the grilled shrimp from the skewers and transfer them to a serving platter.
  7. Garnish with fresh chopped cilantro and serve immediately with lemon wedges.

Notes

  • For best flavor, use fresh shrimp.
  • Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to your preferred spice level.
  • You can also cook the shrimp in a hot skillet if you don’t have a grill.
  • Serve with rice, a fresh salad, or warm tortillas.
