A classic Southern dish featuring fluffy biscuits topped with creamy sausage gravy.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cold butter
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 lb breakfast sausage
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F.
  2. Mix 2 cups flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in milk until dough forms.
  5. Roll dough and cut into biscuits.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes.
  7. Cook sausage in a skillet until browned.
  8. Add butter and flour, stir for 1 minute.
  9. Gradually whisk in milk until thickened.
  10. Season with salt and pepper.
  11. Serve gravy over warm biscuits.

Notes

  • Use cold butter for flakier biscuits.
  • Adjust gravy thickness with more or less milk.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.
