This recipe presents a simple yet elegant pan-seared salmon dish, perfectly complemented by a creamy dill sauce. It’s a quick and flavorful meal, ideal for a weeknight dinner or a special occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • For the Dill Sauce:
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Pinch of salt and black pepper

Instructions

  1. Season both sides of the salmon fillets generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Once the oil is shimmering, carefully place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the hot skillet.
  4. Sear for 4-5 minutes until the skin is crispy and golden brown.
  5. Flip the salmon fillets and cook for another 3-5 minutes, or until cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  6. While the salmon cooks, prepare the dill sauce. In a small bowl, whisk together the sour cream, mayonnaise, fresh dill, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  7. Serve the pan-seared salmon immediately, topped with a generous dollop of the fresh dill sauce.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the salmon in lemon juice and a sprinkle of dried herbs for 15 minutes before cooking.
  • Adjust the amount of dill and lemon juice in the sauce to your preference.
  • This dish pairs well with roasted asparagus, steamed green beans, or a simple side salad.
  • Leftover dill sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
