Crispy sesame chicken with a sweet and savory sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the chicken pieces with cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and chicken broth. Set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chicken in a single layer and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Pour the sauce mixture into the same skillet. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, until the sauce thickens.
  5. Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and toss to coat with the sauce.
  6. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

  • Serve hot with steamed rice and your favorite vegetables.
  • For extra crispiness, you can deep-fry the chicken instead of pan-frying.
  • Adjust the sweetness of the sauce by adding more or less honey.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
