These Spinach and Feta Chicken Burgers are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional beef burgers. They are packed with flavor and moisture, making them a family favorite.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chicken (93% lean)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped fresh spinach
  • 1/4 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped red onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 whole wheat burger buns
  • Optional toppings: sliced tomato, lettuce, red onion, tzatziki sauce

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, gently combine the ground chicken, spinach, feta cheese, red onion, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Do not overmix.
  2. Form the mixture into four equal patties.
  3. Heat a lightly oiled grill or non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  4. Cook the chicken burgers for 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through and no longer pink in the center (internal temperature should reach 165°F/74°C).
  5. Serve the burgers on whole wheat buns with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the patty mixture.
  • If you don’t have fresh spinach, you can use frozen spinach, thawed and squeezed dry.
  • These burgers can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • They also freeze well for up to 3 months.
